Now this is a fantastic example of a rather rare M1855 saber bayonet and a first for us. This bayonet is very similar, if not identical to the Type II M1855 Sword Bayonet, with the subtle difference in the crossguard. Some Revolving Rifle models could be fitted with sword or socket bayonets. The front sight would double as the bayonet lug for use with a socket bayonet, and those adapted for sword bayonets had lugs on
