For sale here is a hollow built 8'6" 2-piece / 2-tip 4wt bamboo rod from the bench of Japanese rodmaker Kanjiro Nakao. Serial #1705. Constructed of Tonkin cane, the rod weighs 3.54oz and features oxidized snake guides with Mildrum stripper, wrapped in pale green silks with black accents and transparent intermediates throughout. Moderately tempered cane with a very pleasing satin finish. The rod is in excellent condition and appears to have seen little use. All sections are straight and full length, the Swiss-style ferrules fit perfectly and the female is fitted with a nickel silver & cork ferrule plug. 6" Powell-style grip is clean and smooth. Bright NS cap and ring reel seat over stabilized burl spacer. A very fine casting rod, light in the hand and smooth medium-fast action with quick recovery. Kanjiro is making some of the finest modern Japanese rods on the market, and this configuration is almost purpose built for technical dry fly fishing.
